Millennium Scholarships | |||||||||||||
As part of the Millennium
celebrations, the British Council in association with leading British universities,
is supporting six postgraduate scholarships for study at Masters level
in Britain in the academic year 2000-01. This prestigious programme is targeted at training promising young people in subject areas relevant
to the needs of the coming years.
The scholars Irem Soysal graduated from Hacettepe University, Department of Documentation and Information in 1998. In 1998 she won the Ihsan Dogramaci prize and in 1999 a special prize from the Turkish Librarians Association. She will be doing and MSc on Library and Information Studies at the Robert Gordon University
Kemal Onur Toker is still studying at Bosphorus University, Western Languages and Literature Department. He will be going to University of Warwick to do an MA on British Cultural Studies. Bulent Gursel Emiroglu is still a student in the Computer Technology and Education Department of Middle East Technical University. He will be going to University of Nottingham to do an MA on Information Technology and Computer Science.
Saadet Koc graduated from the Mathematics Department of Middle East Technical University in 1996. Currently, she is a graduate student in Gender and Woman's studies at the same university. She will be going to Southampton Institute of Higher Education to do an MA on Media Studies. Isik Batmaz Keremoglu graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Law in 1991 and in 1992 finished her preliminary year as a lawyer. Currently she is working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Human Rights Department. She will be going to University of Leicester to do an MA on Human Rights and Civil Liberties.
Cantürk Isci is currently studying in the final year of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Bilkent University. He will be going to the University of Westminster to do an MSc on VSLI System Design
